PhD Course

PhD Course (June 8-9, 2025)

The PhD course is intended for young scholars who are either preparing, or have just finished a doctoral dissertation in Latin Linguistics.

The course is coordinated by Olga Spevak (University Toulouse Jean Jaurès).

Topics covered:

Latin computational linguistics and statistical data analysis (Prof. Dominique Longrée, Liège)
Latin syntax and word order (Prof. Olga Spevak, Toulouse)
Discourse linguistics: Latin particles and the grammar of discourse (Prof. Caroline Kroon, Amsterdam)

Participants are expected to prepare for the course by studying relevant material; during the course, they will perform other research activities. Those performing well will receive a certificate which they may use for their doctoral program at home. The course corresponds to 10 hours of on-site training and 35 hours of preparation (45 hours in total – 1,5 ECTS credits).
